About Matt

As a Senior Consultant and economist in ACIL Allen's Melbourne office, Matt leads economic assessments across a diverse range of industries for both government and non-government clients. His work emphasizes wellbeing, social cohesion, the environment, and the arts.

Matt delivers in-depth economic assessments by spearheading the application of innovative economic valuation methodologies. This approach provides clients with a clearer understanding of the true value of their programs and policies, informing regulatory impact assessments, program evaluations, and forward-looking policy advice.

In addition to his economic analysis, Matt conducts stakeholder engagement and qualitative analysis. This integrated mixed-methods approach allows him to not only identify what is occurring but also to develop the narrative and uncover the insights behind it.

Matt has led and contributed to many major projects for ACIL Allen including:

  • evaluating 3 separate screen industry incentives and support - including a measurement of economic impact - in order to determine their impact on the local industry and workforce
  • several regulatory impact statements and cost benefit analyses on health and wellbeing impacts of changes to key health regulations in NSW, including detailed stakeholder consultations
  • regulatory impact statements for single-use plastic regulations for 4 Australian jurisdictions, measuring the costs and benefits to consumers, businesses, Government and the environment.
  • evaluations on countering violent extremism and community safety, where Matt estimated the economic benefits of reduced crime and improved mental health.

Matt has a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (Honours) from Monash University
