Impact of price caps in the East Coast gas market

ACIL Allen undertook an analysis for APPEA (the peak national body representing Australia's upstream oil and gas sector) on the potential impact of price caps on short and longer-term supply and prices in the Eastern Australian gas market. Our analysis indicates that the price cap is likely to place upward pressure on wholesale gas prices in the East Coast gas market in the longer term due to the impact on supply investment.
