Client: Department of Agriculture and Food (WA) and Meat and Livestock Australia

ACIL Allen has completed the Northern Beef Infrastructure Review, which outlines priority infrastructure projects and how they might be developed to increase the value of the northern beef industry in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions of Western Australia. The review, commissioned by the Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia and Meat and Livestock Australia, identifies a set of priority projects for the region.  ACIL Allen developed a road transport model which modelled the transport of cattle from their property of origin to the final destination using data from the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).  The results of the transport modelling was used to analyse projects identified during extensive consultation with industry to develop a priority set of infrastructure projects to assist in developing the region through reducing transport costs, creating new market destinations for cattle and better meeting market requirements.
