John’s unrivalled expertise and experience in government, not-for-profit and commercial sectors of the economy will significantly add to ACIL Allen’s growing reputation in delivering high quality advice in economics, public policy and strategy.

About John

John’s decades of experience include a number of high profile roles, including 10 years as Western Australia’s Under Treasurer, CEO roles at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Western Australia and Mitsubishi’s Oakajee Port and Rail Project, as Chair of the Government Employee’s Superannuation Board and the Dampier to Bunbury Pipeline, and as a Non-Executive Director on the National Disability Services Authority.

His contribution across these many roles saw him awarded an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia in 2010 and the Western Australian Citizen of the Year for Business in 2011.

Most recently, John was appointed to the esteemed role of Agent General for Western Australia based in London, a role for which he held from 2021 through to 2024.

John has also undertaken several influential inquiries for governments, the most recent of which was his appointment by then WA Premier Mark McGowan AO as Special Inquirer to undertake an Inquiry into Government Projects and Programs. The recommendations from the Inquiry were accepted by Government and have helped to fundamentally change public finance and infrastructure management in Western Australia.
