About Matt
Matt has been integral in guiding the development of ACIL Allen to its current position as Australia’s largest independent economic consulting firm. Matt established ACIL Tasman in 2002 via a merger of the ACIL Consulting and Tasman Economics consulting groups. Matt served as Chair of ACIL Tasman from 2003 until 2013 when it merged with Allen Consulting to become ACIL Allen Consulting.
Under Matt’s chair, ACIL Allen and its predecessor firms have developed an extensive suite of microeconomic and macroeconomic models, techniques and databases. Areas of expertise offered by ACIL Allen include trade practices and competition, agriculture, coal, minerals, petroleum, defence, energy, electricity, gas, environment, economic impact studies, risk management, infrastructure, public-private partnerships, international trade, mergers, acquisitions, privatisation, transport, telecommunications and water. ACIL Allen employs 60 professional and 10 support staff in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
Matt has experience in project management, business management, rationalisation and growth identification, management recruitment, joint venture operational audits, government tenders and submissions, business and green-field start-ups, mergers, acquisitions and deal negotiation.
Matt is also Chair of LTS, a registered surveying business employing more than 50 people and providing land title solutions and surveying services to corporate clients. He is also owner and Chair of Living Edge Rental, Australia’s largest residential furniture rental business, as well as being Chair of Hymans Valuers and Auctioneers, a privately owned national organisation with more than 40 people that values land and buildings across residential, commercial, industrial, retail, childcare, healthcare, aged care and retirement living sectors and one of the largest plant and equipment valuers and auctioneers and business valuations up to $100m across Australia.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Economics, Master’s of Economics Degrees and a Securities Institute of Australia Post Graduate Diploma.
