Development of the National Mental Health Workforce Strategy 2021-2031
The Australian Government has engaged ACIL Allen to support an independent Taskforce to develop a ten-year National Mental Health Workforce Strategy. The Strategy will consider the quality, supply, distribution and structure of the mental health workforce; and will identify practical approaches that could be implemented by Australian governments to attract, train and retain the workforce required to meet the demands of the mental health system in the future.
Development of the Strategy is being overseen by an independent National Mental Health Workforce Strategy Taskforce which is co-chaired by Ms Jennifer Taylor PSM and Mr Tom Brideson and comprises representatives from across the mental health sector. A list of Taskforce members can be found here.
A final Strategy will be provided to Government in late 2021.
A Consultation Draft Strategy was developed, supported by a Background Paper that summarised the evidence on which the Consultation Draft Strategy was based. The Taskforce invited the public including consumers, carers and the mental health sector to comment on the Consultation Draft Strategy.
Submissions on the Consultation Draft have now closed (as of 30 September 2021).
If you have any questions regarding the review or the submission process, please contact the ACIL Allen consultants at firstname.lastname@example.org.
